The media has been focusing more on the red carpet than on the actual Soberano Awards show that followed, or on the winners. Dominicans have been sharing humorous memes on social media, and yesterday Thursday 2 June 2016, Hoy newspaper’s online edition featured many of the memes, which light-heartedly compare Dominican celebrities to their supposed popular culture lookalikes. The show began at 7am on Tuesday 31 May 2016 with the red carpet walks and ended at 12:55am after all the awards had been announced.
