Foreign Relations Minister Andres Navarro says that everything is in place for the 46th Ordinary General Assembly of the Organization of American States that takes place in Santo Domingo next week from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 June 2016. The opening event will be celebrated at the National Theater and the plenary sessions will be held in the Ministry of Foreign Relation’s new convention center that will be inaugurated by President Danilo Medina tomorrow, Thursday 9 June 2016.
Navarro said that the country has complied religiously with all of the logistical preparations and the planned agenda to ensure the success of the Assembly, which will be attended by foreign ministers and representatives of 34 countries, turning the DR into what he called the “Capital of the Americas”.
He warned commuters that the conference could cause traffic delays. He said that there would be diversions on the streets around the conference center n Malecon (Av. George Washington), Independencia, Abraham Lincoln, Correa y Cidron, Huascar Tejeda, Aristides Fiallo Cabral, Alma Mater and others in the area.
The new conference center covers an area of 4,500 square meters with seating for 3,700, and includes three large event rooms, administrative offices and high technology equipment.
