Canine unit for border patrol

The Specialized Border Security Corps (Cesfront) has announced the addition of trained dogs to its patrols. The United States Embassy’s Anti-Narcotics Office has donated 10 dogs to Cesfront’s newly created canine unit.

The Cesfront director, General Carlos Aguirre Reyes said that the dogs would help prevent terrorism, drug trafficking, contraband, people smuggling and other kinds of organized crime. The Labrador dogs came from Colombia where they received basic training. Their training will continue for three months at the National Drug Control Agency’s canine training center in Bonao.
