Central Electoral Board (JCE) public relations director Felix Reyna is one of the latest victims of crime in Santo Domingo. He confirmed he was unhurt after surviving a robbery at gunpoint in his apartment complex, Residencial Jose Contreras in Santo Domingo at 11:30pm on Thursday, 10 June 2016. He said that his wife had arrived home from the supermarket and called him to come down to help bring up the groceries. When he got to the car he was met by the two robbers, one of whom was armed and held the gun to him and demanded that they hand over all they had on them. He told the press that he only had his car keys because he had left his wallet upstairs in his apartment.
His son saved them, by yelling “what’s going on” from above and at that moment the man fired several shots, missing Reyna before fleeing in the cream-colored vehicle he had arrived in with his accomplice. There is some speculation that it was a radio taxi because it had an antenna.
The information became public when Reyna used his Twitter account to inform the Police and its spokesman Maximo Baez Aybar. Maximo Baez Aybar responded by saying that they were sending police units immediately.
