The Ministry of Culture has announced that the Ninth International Theater Festival (FITE 2016) will take place from 17 to 27 June 2016. This is an opportunity to see outstanding dramatic productions from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Venezuela, the United States and the DR. Actress Karina Noble is the director of Fite 2016. Sixteen theater companies are coming from overseas, together with 29 Dominican groups.
In Santo Domingo, the plays will be staged at the National Theater, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Casa de Teatro, Blue Mall, Centro Cultural Babeque, Centro Cultural Mauricio Baez, Centro Cultural Narciso Gonzalez, among other venues.
This year, in addition to Santo Domingo, performances have also been planned for the provinces of Santiago, San Cristobal, Azua and San Juan de la Maguana.
