Thousands of Catholic and Evangelical Christians participated in a pro-life and family consolidation protest on Monday, 13 June 2016 near the Ministry of Foreign Relations where the 46th General Assembly of the Organization of American States is taking place. They criticized the secretary general Luis Almagro for bringing a hidden agenda. More than 500 delegates from non-governmental agencies have registered for the conference, the assistant secretary general Nestor Mendez has revealed. The march started at Colegio Calasanz on Av. Independencia and ended on the Malecon near the Hotel Catalonia (former Hilton).

The president of the Consejo de Unidad Evangelica (Codue) Fidel Lorenzo said that the Dominican Republic has its own identity. He said that the Dominican Constitution is inflexible in regards to life from conception and has defined marriage as the union between a man and a woman.
