The president of the Dominican Traders Federation (FDC) Ivan Garcia says that retail sales were down 8% in the first five months of the year. He said that this figure puts paid to the perception that electoral campaigns invigorate the economy. According to Garcia, the only businesses that benefit are advertising agencies, printers and media.
