The Ministry of Environment is carrying out a 10-day operation to spruce up the Mirador del Sur Park in Santo Domingo. Working together with the Ministry of Public Works and the city government of Santo Domingo, the new initiative is aimed at eliminating mosquito-breeding areas and pruning trees at the start of the hurricane season. Speaking during the launch of the cleanup on Thursday, 16 June 2016, Environment Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez highlighted the important role played by the park for family recreation.
