Marielis Sanchez qualifies for her third Olympics

During a meet in Switzerland last week, Dominican 200-meter runner Marielis Sanchez qualified for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, which open on 5 August 2016. She is the first Dominican woman to have made the team on three occasions. She competed in Beijing in 2008, London 2012 and now Rio 2016. She came first in the 200 meters with 23:13 in the Meeting International D’Athletisme La Chaux de Fonds. During the event, Ana Tima also qualified for the Dominican track and field team in triple jump.

Sanchez is coached by Jose Ludwig Rubio, who also coached Luguelin Santos who won silver in London 2012. Her event is scheduled for 12 August in Rio de Janeiro.
