Nassim Jose Alemany says Brexit will be felt

Deloitte economist Nassim Jose Alemany says that as far as the Dominican Republic is concerned, the main impact of the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union will be felt in the areas of trade and investment. He said that the DR currently exports US$130 million worth of products to the UK, which imports the items tax-free. The DR imports approximately US$170 million a year from the UK. It is estimated that UK investment in the DR is at around US$1 billion in financial services, cinema, call centers and food and beverage categories.

Dominican exports to the UK consist mainly of bananas, mangos, avocados and pineapples, benefitting from the European Partnership Agreement (EPA) with European Union members.
