Re-elected deputy Elpidio Baez de los Santos (PRM) says he has nothing to apologize for and gave explanations to his controversial posts on social media. He had published a photograph of a rifle and bottles of wine on his Instagram account. He explained the firearm was to defend himself from rising criminality, the beverages were from a party he had to celebrated.
His comments in Spanish: “Asi nos tiene este gobierno armado hasta los dientes para que no nos atraquen, como dicen por ahi, armao, bebio y con cuarto”, lead to widespread observations on social media. He observed that he took the catchy phrase “armao, bebio y con cuarto” from a song of a popular urban music singer.
He said once in Congress he will promote bills to guarantee citizen safety. Baez is already on the commission to review the Police reform bill.
