Illegal Haitians stopped at the border

Members of the Dominican Army have prevented 84 illegal Haitians from entering the country at the border, as reported in El Caribe.

The Haitian in question were carrying backpacks with clothes, water and some food and were stopped at checkpoints at Sanita, Copey, Masacre, Santa Maria and Canongo. During their interrogation, the Haitians admitted that they had intended to travel to Santiago, Puerto Plata and Valverde, Mao.

All those detained were sent to the Tenth Battalion Infantry headquarters in Dajabon where they were handed over to immigration authorities to be repatriated to Haiti.
