The Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) has confiscated more than 2,000 vehicles and fined their drivers for travelling without the required taxation sticker (marbete) since the deadline for renewal expired on Friday, 6 January 2017.
The confiscated vehicles have been parked at designated lots in Villa Mella, Independencia Avenue and Monumental Avenue with República de Colombia in Santo Domingo.
The stickers can still be renewed at an additional RD$900 plus a penalty charge of RD$1,500 or RD$3,000 for vehicles newer than 2012.
