The police has announced that its Department of Internal Affairs is investigating claims that Brayan Peter Felix Paulino, said to be the operating arm of the bank robbery criminal gang led by the deceased John Percival Matos, was arrested and detained in San Cristobal on 12 December 2016, 15 days before the armed robbery of the Banco Popular in Plaza Lama. An exhaustive investigation is underway as there are reports that he was released after paying RD$25,000. His motorcycle, which he was driving without documents, was returned to him.
