Opposition PRM party president Andrés Bautista García says that the investigations into Odebrecht-related corruption should include an in-depth audit of each of the works carried out by the company in order to ascertain the real sums involved. He said that the company’s real corruption lies in the continuing overvaluations of the budgets and designs, which he says were routinely modified to increase the earnings and cover the cost of bribes.
Andres Bautista was interviewed on the Uno+Uno program on TeleAntillas, Channel 2. He said that the overvaluation practices must be penalized and that the courts have prevented the resources that pay for corruption from being better invested in social spending and poverty mitigation.
