Former First Lady, Vice President Margarita Cedeño is reported to be making a successful recovery from a hiatus hernia operation at Cedimat in Santo Domingo. The surgery was carried out on Saturday, 14 January 2017 by a medical team including laparoscopy surgeon Luis Betances, head doctor Jorge Marte and gastroenterologist Fernando Contreras. She was expected to be sent home on Sunday.
Cedeño is the wife of former President Leonel Fernández.
