The second season of the Polo Challenge 2017 is happening at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in coordination with Lechuzas Caracas from January 14th to April 15th. The Lechuzas Caracas team was the winner of the 2016 Azimut Cup. The event positions the Dominican Republic as one of the four destinations of high handicap polo. Others are Glass of the Queen, England; Sotogrande, Spain and Palm Beach, Florida. The 2017 Polo Challenge finals will be broadcast live on ESPN worldwide.
Highlights for 2017 is the Charity Polo Day with the presence of Adolfo Cambiaso, who is recognized as the best polo player in the world. Likewise, in 2017 for the first time in the country, an exhibition of women’s polo will be played.
Polo Challenge organizers stress the level of the competition with the participation of the best organizations and players of polo in the world. The players confirmed for the Polo Challenge 2017 are: Juan Martin Nero, David Stirling, Ignacio Novillo Astrada, Frederick Mannix, the Santiago brothers and Ignacio Toccalino, and Francisco Bensadón, among others.
The 2017 season brings four cups to Casa de Campo. These are:
Bronze Cup: January 12th – 28th (12 & 22 handicap goals)
Silver Cup: February 9th – 25th (12 & 22 handicap goals)
Gold Cup: March 4th – 26th (12 & 22 handicap goals)
Caribbean Open: March 30th – April 15th (12 & 26 handicap goals)
