In the series of nine games, first to win five, the Licey Tigers under Audé Vicente and the Aguilas Cibaeñas under Manny Acta are tied to four games each. The Licey tied the series winning 9-6 over the Aguilas in the game played in the Santo Domingo Quisqueya Stadium. The playoff of the Dominican Winter Professional Baseball Championship continues on Tuesday, 24 January 2017 at 8pm at the Cibao Stadium in Santiago.
Prior to the Sunday, 22 January game, fans kept a minute of silence in honor of Aguilas player Andy Marte and Kansas Royals’ Yordano Ventura, both who had died in car accidents the day before.
