The eastern regional director of the Police,
, is investigating the escape of at least eight prisoners from the La Romana police station jail. In a late development, the Police said that three prisoners were returned to the jail.
He said that the escape occurred at dawn, Monday 23 January 2017, when the prisoners used a hacksaw to saw through the bars of the jail.
Among those who escaped was Daivy Guerrero Cabral (Davi), who was due in court yesterday accused of taking part in the murder of the well known businessman Ramon Galvez Bastardo (Moreno) in the municipality of Villa Hermosa. Galvez was attacked and killed at his business in September 2016. The supposed gunman, Luis Alberto Constanzo de la Cruz, is currently in jail on remand.
