The National Salaries Committee (CNS) set 15 February 2017, as the date for the meeting to review the national minimum wage level. According to a press release, CNS director, Felix Hidalgo, said that the decision to postpone the meeting that was originally scheduled for January was at the request of the employers, but that the union representatives were now in agreement with the new meeting date.
The reason for the delay was to give the new board members of the Confederation of Employers of the Dominican Republic (COPARDOM) more time to become familiarized with their duties and responsibilities within the organization.
