Members of the Environment Permanent Committee from the Chamber of Deputies announced they have scheduled a visit to Valle Nuevo in La Vega next Friday, 27 January 2017.
The legislators will visit to see for themselves the situation of the farmers in the mountainous area that is the source of many of the country’s main rivers.
The Ministry of the Environment has given farmers and ranchers until Monday, 29 January 2017 to end all agricultural activities in Valle Nuevo.
Deputy Francisco Matos said they want to hear directly from the people affected by the ruling, to assure that the legislative body understood all perspectives.
