After a slow start, top ATP-ranked Dominican tennis player Víctor Estrella (ranked 156th) defeated Andrej Martin of Slovak Republic (ranked 145th) 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in the Ecuador Open. Estrella is a two-time winner of the ATP 250 Ecuador Open. He will now go against Ivo Karlovic (ranked 18th) of Croatia in the second round.
