The Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) reported that agent Edwin Enmanuel Octavis Luis died from the gun wounds suffered when two assailants shot him in the head and leg to steal his gun. Octavis died at the Marcelino Vélez Santana Hospital in Herrera where he was taken after the assault.
He had been driving along Calle General Sandoval near Calle Luis Arias in Las Palmas de Herrera in the company of Police female agent Isoris Trinidad Arocha Veras when the two were attacked. At the time of the assault around 8:20pm, Octavis was wearing his Amet uniform. The assailants stole the officers’ gun and the handbag and cell phone of Arocha. The case is investigated by the homicides division of the National Police.
