President Danilo Medina appointed Pedro César Mota Pacheco, former governor of San Pedro de Macorís, as director of the State Sugar Council (CEA). He replaces José Joaquín Domínguez Peña.
The CEA is in the public spotlight after a conflict of interest within the organization escalated, allegedly leading to the murder of two radio broadcasters early in February 2017, by a victim of the administrative entangling at the CEA.
