The Ministry of Energy and Mines is encouraging local companies to participate in a tender to choose the firms that would carry out the seismic reflection study to determine the oil-producing potential in different parts of the country.
This geophysical method uses principles of seismology to estimate the properties of the Earth’s subsurface from reflected seismic waves.
The offshore information would cover the platforms of San Pedro de Macoris and Ocoa Bay and territorial waters of the Dominican Republic in general.
