Rescue authorities identified as 40-year old Micaela Albania Carrera Marte and 19 year old Carlos Eduards Salazar those who were drowned in flood waters while attempting to cross the Los Domínguez River in Puerto Plata.
The woman was driving a Hyundai Tucson, which was property of her husband, German citizen Patrick Knoerzer, who was out of the country when the tragedy occurred. She resided in El Choco in Sosua. Salazar was a resident in Los Coquitos.
While it originally believed they were traveling with a child, the authorities later said this was not true.
