Making life easier for Dominicans living abroad

12% of the Dominican population lives abroad. On Monday, 10 April 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced they have renewed the inter-department ongoing agreement for the issuing IDs (cedulas) and other civil registry documents at Dominican embassies and consulates abroad.

The agreement was signed by incumbents Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado and Julio César Castaños Guzmán, president of the JCE.

The agreements calls for the services to be offered in the future also at the missions in Montreal and Toronto in Canada; New Orleans, San Francisco, California in the United States; Marseilles and London in Europe; and San Salvador in El Salvador, among others.
