Brazil shares information on Odebrecht bribes case

The Brazilian Attorney General’s Office has announced that they sent information on the Odebrecht case to the Dominican Republic on 20 April 2017, and that it was the first country to receive official information from Brazilian prosecutors.

The office said that once the DR had signed an agreement with Odebrecht with regards to the bribes paid to secure contract work, they proceeded to send the information as stipulated in the international legal cooperation agreement that had been signed in February 2017.

The agreement was signed by the Attorney General Offices of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. The Brazilian authorities have received 19 separate requests for international cooperation from seven countries who are investigating cases related to Odebrecht.
