Sports Writers Association of Santiago, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, voted on who were their best athletes in 2016. Tennis player Víctor Estrella and basketball player Víctor Liz tied and shared the Best Athlete of the Year Award. Taekwondo athlete, Ketherine Rodríguez was named the Best Women Athlete of the Year. Each won a cash prize of RD$25,000.
