Jesus Requena, of the AST Sports, the company that installed the track at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Stadium for the Pan American Sports Games in 2003, says a new track has been installed that incorporates changes suggested by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF). He said two IAAF technicians have already come to certify the course. He said they are only awaiting their evaluation.
The present restoration is guaranteed for 10 years. Requena has recommended a resurfacing in eight years in order to extend the life of the track an additional 10 years.
