The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewage Corporation (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas said that early estimates of repairs to various aqueducts in Greater Santo Domingo damaged by heavy rains are RD$318 million.
Montas reported on three main aqueduct systems. He said Duey will continue out of operation until the third week in May for repairs. Duey services western Santo Domingo and areas in the National District. Regarding Haina-Manoguayabo, Montas said it is operating partially after the flooding of the Haina River. Regarding Isa-Mana, Montas he said it is still shut down because of the high level of mud in the waters. The communities in these districts are being serviced by water trucks.
