On Sunday, 21 May 2017, according to General Edward Sánchez, director of the Central Anti Narcotics Division (DICAN), two people were arrested transporting 144 pounds of marijuana. The vehicle used to transport the marijuana was impounded. Those arrested are Bruno Antonio Torrez Uceta and Leonardo Toribio Pérez. Torrez Ucerta, resident in San José de las Matas was in possession of 20 packages of marijuana, a Grand Cherokee Jeep and RD$200. Toribio Pérez, had 46 pounds of marijuana.
