Emelyn Baldera, the Listin Diario entertainment writer, is the newly elected president of the Dominican Show Business Association (Acroarte). She won the guild election having received 111 votes to 87 votes for fellow journalist Cristina Liriano.
Baldera was elected for the 2017-2019 period. The vote counts were: in Santo Domingo (51 to 49), Santiago (22 to 12), New York (26 to 15) and Florida (12 to 11).
At the meeting, a new board was named, including Ney Zapata, vice president; Alexis Beltré, secretary general, Wanda Sánchez, finances; Jorge Jiménez, learning advancement and culture; Robert Sánchez, public relations. Also on the board are Samir Saba, international relations; María Luisa Estévez, regional issues; and Belkis Castillo, social and recreational affairs.
