DR lobbies for UN Security Council seat

The Dominican Republic aspires to occupy a seat on the United Nations Security Council for 2019-2020. Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado said if the country is successful it would uphold its commitment to world peace and security. Vargas made the announcement when meeting with UN ambassadors for the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC) in New York City. The candidacy will be decided in June 2018.
