
On Wednesday 4 October 2017, Environment Minister Francisco Domínguez Brito announced October is “Reforestation Month” in the Dominican Republic. To mark the occasion, he symbolically planted mangroves in the ecological park of Boca de Nigua in the southern province of San Cristobal. Also present at the ceremony were provincial Senator Tommy Galán, provincial governor, Julio César Díaz, the mayor of Nigua, among others. Dozens of children took part in the event. The minister toured Los Cuadritos beach and promised to restore the beach.
