The Central Bank announced a new RD$500 note is circulating as of Wednesday, 4 October 2017, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the bank.
The logo of the Central Bank on the bill changes color as the note changes position. Another new feature is a security thread with three-dimensional optical effects made of circles and that also changes color with different positions of the bill.
The Central Bank also released new gold and silver coins for sale to commemorate the anniversary.
