A truck breakdown is the explanation for worsened bottlenecks that affected traffic on the afternoon of Wednesday, 15 November 2017, in the Poligono Central city center of Santo Domingo. The breakdown of the truck occurred around 4pm at Km 9 of the Duarte Highway and backed up traffic for more than five hours on the Av. John F. Kennedy in the east-west direction. Traffic was not cleared by the Metropolitan Transport Authority until around 11pm when the vehicle was removed.
The bottleneck on the Kennedy Corridor caused dozens of drivers to detour bringing more congestion to the 27 de Febrero, Gregorio Luperón, Máximo Gómez, Tiradentes, Núñez de Cáceres and other main thoroughfares.
