The Presidency reported that President Danilo Medina will be the keynote speaker at the Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony of the Global Conference on Jobs and Inclusive Growth: Partnerships for Sustainable Tourism that is being held in Montego Bay from 27-29 November 2017. President Medina will be speaking as head of the Caribbean country that is seen as a model of sustainable tourism development in the region. The Dominican Republic is the region’s leader in the number of visitors and hotel rooms. It also has the most Blue Flag beaches and environmental protected areas in the Caribbean.

The World Tourism Organization, the World Bank Group, and the Government of Jamaica in collaboration with Chemonics International are sponsoring the conference. It seeks to identify successful models and future initiatives of public-private partnerships (PPPs) that will contribute to sustainable tourism development globally.

President Medina announced he will be traveling with Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas, Administrative Minister of the Presidency José Ramón Peralta; Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García; and Environment Minister Francisco Domínguez Brito, and his support staff.
