The European Lopesan Hotel Group and IFA Hotels & Touristik AG began the construction of the 1,020-room Lopesan Costa Bávaro resort adjacent to the 650-room IFA Villas Bávaro resort that is centrally located in the Punta Cana beach area. To be built within an area of 100,000 square meters, the new Lopesan Costa Bávaro will have 1,020 hotel rooms and several swimming pools, including one connected to the beach itself. The resort calls for a EUR130 million investment. The opening of the hotel is planned for May 2019.
Plans also call for the expansion of the IFA Villas Bávaro to 1,500 rooms, for an overall 2,500 rooms on the Lopesan Hotel Group/IFA Hotels complex of 200,000 square meters including beachfront property.
