Ten-time All Star and three-time World Series champion David Ortiz’s Golf Classic reaped US$1.3 million for lifesaving heart surgeries for children at the Cedimat of Plaza de la Salud and hospitals in New England. To date, the David Ortiz Golf Classic has gathered over US$4 million for surgeries that have saved the lives of over 600 children.
Every year, Ortiz invites celebrities, sports fans, golf enthusiasts alike to join his cause by participating in the golf classic. Participating this year were Mike Napoli, Danny Valencia, DJ Cassidy, Barry Larkin, Cris Archer, Tino Martinez, Andres Galarraga, Manny Mota, Placido Polanco, actor Anthony Mackie, Andruw Jones, Gary Sheffield, Chris Young, Jenny Clark, Adrian Beltre, Mariano Duncan and Johnny Damon, among others.
