President checks out hospital renovation progress

On Sunday, 3 December 2017, President Danilo Medina was in La Vega to see for himself the advances on renovations at the public hospitals Arturo Grullón and José María Cabral y Báez in Santiago, and Luis Morillo King hospital in La Vega. The president also visited bridges in La Vega and Santiago to check on the progress of these public works.

The Cabral and Báez public hospital has been under renovation since 2013 causing major inconveniencies to medical staff and patients. The President said that the pharmaceuticals robbery under investigation at the Arturo Grullon public hospital also in Santiago is under investigation. Three employees have been arrested for the theft of medicines.

The President, accompanied by the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ramón Peralta, Minister of Public Works, Gonzalo Castillo and the director of the Office of Supervisory Engineers of State (OISOE), Ángel Pagán, was in La Vega to check the construction of the Burende bridge over the Verde River, located at Km 10 of the Duarte Highway. Gonzalo Castillo promised the bridge would be finished on 20 December 2017.

Finally, President Medina went to the Morillo King public hospital to see the construction there, which, according to Peralta will be ready this month.
