The Unit for Restructuring of La Barquita and Surroundings (URBE) has announced that the Teleferico, the Santo Domingo cable car, is 92.1% ready, according to the timescale in place for the project. The skylift is on schedule to begin operations at some point during in the first three months of 2018.
URBE said that the civil engineering part of the work is 91% complete and has complied with all of the regulations of the Ministry of Public Works. The Sabana Perdida station is 99% completed, the Charles de Gaulle station is 95% complete, Gualey 90% and Los Tres Brazos 75%.
The organization also announced that the process of putting the cables in place had been completed from Los Tres Brazos to Sabana Perdida and 28 of the 36 pylons to support the infrastructure were in place. This month the testing phase will begin.
