The head of the Superintendence of Pensions (SIPEN), Ramón Contreras Genao, reported on Monday, 11 December 2017, that as of 15 November 2017, the pension funds equity managed by the department amounts to RD$507.6 billion, of which 78.4% corresponds to individual capitalization accounts, equivalent to RD$397,933 million.
He added that 6.5% corresponds to individualized distribution plans; 0.04% to complementary plans; 5.4% to the Social Solidarity Fund, and RD$27,448,000; and 9.7% to the National Teacher Welfare Institute (Inabima).
Contreras Genao highlighted there are 3,679,160 affiliated persons, of which 1,742,718 are active contributors, or 47.37% of the total population in the social security system.
Contreras Genao spoke during the mass celebrating the 16th Anniversary of the start of operations of SIPEN at the San Antonio de Padua Church.
