Patients from the Intensive Care Unit at the Marcelino Vélez Santana Hospital were evacuated on the morning of Wednesday, 13 December 2017 when a fan caught on fire in the hospital pharmacy and the smoke reached the ICU.
The patients were moved the Cardio Neuro-Opthamology and Transplant Center (Cecanot) and the National Police Hospital. The situation was then controlled and is back to normal.
