The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) says that it is focused on preparing Dominican athletes for their participation in the 23rd Central American and Caribbean Games from 19 July to 3 August in Barranquilla, Colombia and the Youth Olympic Games 1-6 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2017, the COD had focused on the Bolivarian Games that took place in Colombia.
In 2018, the attention is also on preparing athletes to participate in the National Sports Games set for Cotuí, Sánchez Ramírez province in March 2018. The date of this event, nevertheless, could be postponed to give organizers more time to prepare.
