The Ministry of Sports announced the celebration of the National Sports Games in the summer of 2018. Initially a spring date had been announced. The event will take place 29 June to 8 July 2018, and athletes from all around the country will compete in 11 sports in the Salcedo Games.
Minister of Sports Danilo Diaz said the government will build an apartment complex of 224 apartments to serve as sports village for the estimated 4,000 athletes that will participate in the event. He made the announcement during the inauguration of the National Sports Games offices.
