Uber in the Dominican Republic has announced fare prices in the three cities they operate in the country, Santo Domingo, Santiago and La Altagracia province, have increased as of Tuesday, 6 March 2018. They attribute the higher fares to rises in the price of fuel.
UberX rides start now at RD$35, the rate per minute goes up from RD$3 to RD$4 and the price per kilometer increases to RD$10, and the minimum fare is increased from RD$75 to RD$85.
UberXL fares move to RD$40, and RD$7.90 the minute, per kilometer to RD$18 and the minimum fare will be RD$120.
There will also be increases in the motorcycle taxi, UberMoto with the base rate increasing to RD$4.50, the minute to RD$1.80, the kilometer to RD$7.50 and a minimum fare of RD$20.
Long distance fares will also increase with UberX charging RD$8 per additional kilometer past kilometer 16 and Uber XL will increase to RD$10 after kilometer 20.
