Playa Dorada Golf Course to host PGA Tour Latinoamerica

Puerto Plata is promoting the Puerto Plata DR Golf Open, a stopover of the PGA Tour Latin America. The event makes Puerto Plata the capital of golf in Latin America for the week – Thursday, 17 May to Sunday, 20 May 2018.

The second edition of the tournament will again be played at the Playa Dorada Golf Course. The Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed Playa Dorada Golf Course opened in 1978 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The par-72 course surrounds the Playa Dorada resort complex, the largest concentration of hotels on the north coast.

US golfer Tee-K Kelly was the winner of the 2017 tournament, taking with him a cash prize of US$31,500.

In the previous six tournaments, PGA TOUR Latinoamérica has been held in the Dominican Republic at Cana Bay Golf Club in the Punta Cana area (2012 and 2013) and the Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo, La Romana (2014-2016). Puerto Plata has been hosting the 2017 and 2018 tournaments.
