In commemoration of the International Labor Day, President Danilo Medina urged the Dominican people to keep working together for the prosperity of the country and for social justice, equality and respect for human dignity. While this labor day was celebrated on Monday, 30 April 2018, it is traditionally celebrated on 1 May.
President Medina sent a brotherly message to all men and women who, thanking them for their work and contributions to the growth of the country.
The President went on to remind the public that when he assumed the presidency in 2012, he set the goal of creating 400,000 formal jobs, equivalent to 100,000 jobs a year as the first step to help to decrease poverty. He said that each year this goal had been surpassed and by December 2017, there had been an average of 120,000 jobs per year created.
