Residents of Arroyo Caña, La Colonia, La Vigía and Comederos in the municipality of Rancho Arriba in the province of San José de Ocoa have stated that they are fed up of having to live as people did in years gone by, cooking using wood and charcoal. They complain the closest propane filler station is 30 kilometers away on a very poorly maintained road. Residents in the area have held protests to call attention to their plight.
